The UBridge Difference
On average, less than 6% of international freshman applicants get into UCLA.
Those odds can feel daunting, even for straight-A students. But the “2+2” transfer opportunity holds promise.
Many prestigious four-year universities are more likely to admit transfer students who have already completed their first two years of undergrad at a select American college. In fact, in 2025, UCLA transfer admissions were more than double the freshman admission rate. And with UBridge, your chances get even better.

How it Works
Two years to UCLA, followed by two years at UCLA
After spending your first two years of undergrad at our partner school, Santa Monica College (SMC), you can take advantage of SMC’s Transfer Alliance Program. This initiative allows students to apply for priority third-year admission at UCLA, meaning you could finish undergrad and earn your degree at UCLA.
But the transfer system is complex and difficult to manage — especially while juggling the rigors of student life. CollegeCare® is UBridge’s multi-year, in-person advising and transfer support program, designed specifically to help international students gain admission to the universities of their dreams.
Made possible by UBridge advisors
Our advisors are the heart and soul of UBridge — and many are graduates of UCLA themselves. Through ongoing one-on-one planning and mentorship, these academic and transfer specialists work tirelessly to facilitate your goals and support your success every step of the way.

Frequently asked questions
What GPA do I need to pursue UCLA?
The minimum required GPA for international students to transfer into UCLA is a 2.8/4.0. That said, public data suggests that students have at least a 3.6/4.0 to stand a realistic chance at being admitted. There are a host of other important factors that come into play, most importantly the major you choose. UBridge advisors are experts on the UCLA admissions process and help guide our students to acceptance rates as high as 10x the international first-year rate.
What TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo do I need to pursue UCLA?
There is no minimum requirement for UCLA. As a transfer student, you are judged on your performance at UBridge in your English courses, not on standardized tests. What's more, your tests are not needed for transfer. You will only need these tests to meet the minimum admissions requirements to get into UBridge.
Can this really help me if I’m already a great student?
UBridge helps top students get into UCLA every year. It’s incredibly difficult to gain freshman admissions to UCLA–as low as 5% admissions. UBridge’s acceptance rates are 35%+. So, the transfer path can be great for top students.
Is this a tutoring service?
No, our advisors cover much, much more than tutoring. You will be assigned a professional, in-person advisor who covers all aspects of your students need. From creating a full two-year plan to transfer to UCLA, to actually registering for classes, required academic meetings/updates during the semester, written reports to parents, and transfer assistance to UCLA in year two.
Is UCLA admissions guaranteed?
No. Students attending one of UBridge’s California campuses will enjoy what is called “priority” admissions to UCLA. That means that they will have priority over students who are looking to transfer to UCLA from colleges or universities outside of the state of California. This is a benefit afforded to all California two-year college students. Approximately 92% of all students admitted to the University of California system come from a two-year college in California.
